Welcome to the History Department's website.

Our aim is to provide you with a new learning tool which you can access at home or in school. To begin with, the website will be of most use to Year 9, GCSE and A level students. More help for Years 7-8 will be added as the site grows. In the meantime, the site could be useful to you in a variety of ways:
Check out our new, exciting sister website: 'Chesham at War' - follow the link below.   Quote of the Day: 'A page of history is worth a book of mathematics' (Oliver Wendall Holmes, 1809-64)   New page: Read the story of George Payne, a Chesham soldier of the Great War - follow the Year 10 link
  • you can find out what topics you'll be studying in your current year or next year, for GCSE or A level
  • you can access lessons and topics which you might have missed or didn't fully understand the first time round
  • homework and GCSE coursework tasks are also posted so you can catch up on assignments you might have missed.
  • there is advice on examination technique for GCSE, AS and A2 level
  • We hope that this proves to be a valuable learning resource. If there's anything you think we should add, let the department know by clicking on the "contact" button above.

In 2007, Chesham Grammar School achieved Humanities Specialist status with history as the Lead Subject, with English and geography making up the other two subjects in the specialism.

If you're interested in checking out other history websites written for school students, then click on 'Links' at the top.
